So, the Republican Governor of Maine, Paul LePage, took a break from leaving threatening voicemails to political opponents and accusing black drug dealers from impregnating teenaged girls to lecture Civil Rights icon, John Lewis, about how Republican presidents from over a century ago are reason enough not to criticize the current President-Elect.
Setting aside that his "history lesson" was factually void, it also follows one of my favorite traditions of finding a continuity to "The Party of Lincoln" by ignoring the exodus of progressives in the Republican Party in the early 20th century. The idea that John Lewis should keep his mouth shut because of something that happened (read: it didn't) in the 1870s is just a sample of fun times ahead for the next four years.
